Biodiversity & Nature

Talybont-on-Usk Community Council is committed to protecting and enhancing biodiversity across the community.

Our Biodiversity Plan

Biodiversity encompasses all of the plants and animals, habitats and wildlife, rivers and reservoirs that are part of our living landscape. NRW’s State of Natural Resources report shows that we are losing habitats and species in Wales at an alarming rate. We need to protect these valuable, natural assets for species survival and human welfare, and to alleviate (perhaps eradicate) the effects of climate change.

Under Section 6 of the Environment (Wales) Act 2016, community and town councils in Wales have a duty to seek to maintain and enhance biodiversity and promote the resilience of ecosystems when exercising their functions.
